Alkaline diet is the key for good health!

Why is that?

pH_bal5PH is a measure of acids and alkalies throughout the body on a 0 to 14 scale. Acidic substances range from 0 to 7; alkaline substances fall between 7 and 14 on the scale.

The billions of cells in our bodies must maintain alkalinity, in order to function and stay alive. Thus our body is slightly alkaline – hovering between 7.35 and 7.45 and it constantly tries to keep this balance no matter what food we consume.

The modern American diet consists mainly of foods that form acids in our stomach – those are meats, breads, dairy products, sugar, alcohol, caffeine.  An acidic state causes a lack of oxygenation at the cellular level. Disease can only grow in an acidic body, which makes a condition favorable for the growth of bacteria, yeast, fungus, mold, viruses, and any other unwanted organisms. Cancer always strikes those with an over-acidic body.

Not only do foods make your body alkaline or acidic. Emotions such as anger, hate, sadness, despair, and loneliness also change your body chemistry to acidic. Happy emotions, such as love, make your body pH alkaline.

How does the acid harm us?

When we eat acid-forming foods, our body works to bring our blood pH back into balance by releasing alkaline-rich minerals into our bloodstream (e.g. calcium, phosphorus and magnesium). If we are not eating enough alkaline-forming foods, then our body has to pull these minerals from our bones, teeth and organs. This can compromise our immune system, cause fatigue and make us vulnerable to viruses and disease.

How does the acid make us fat?

When the human body is in an acidic state, it will try to shield itself from the damaging acid by storing the acid in fat cells. The body tries to prevent the acid from eating holes in tissues. Your body may make fat cells in order to store unwanted acid for its own protection. This process may save your vital organs from severe damage. By returning to a balanced pH level, you may lose unwanted fat cells.

What is the solution?

Eat a diet of 60-80% alkaline-forming foods and 20-40% acid-forming foods.

Eat raw foods that are living to give you oxygen, enzymes, energy, minerals, vitamins, cancer-fighting phytonutrients etc

For the acid-forming foods, skip the fast-food burgers and processed foods and choose healthier options like beans, grains and other fresh foods. Pesticides tend to be acid-forming, so also choose organic fruits and vegetables whenever possible.

If you must eat meat/dairy products then eat organic AND adopt an 80/20 or 70/30 rule where you eat 80/70% raw to 20/30% cooked food. The enzymes in the raw food helps your body to break down the cooked food which is devoid of any enzymes as they get destroyed in the cooking process giving your body more work to do and forces your body to use up the enzymes from it’s own reserve.

Where to find them?

Alkaline-forming foods include most fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, seeds, and herbal teas.

Acid-forming foods include most grains, beans, meats, dairy products, fish, fast foods, and processed foods.

Print these alkaline-acid food charts and keep them on the fridge for quick reference.
